Jack: Gervonta Was on My Undercard, Now I’m On His – Proud of Him

Former two division world champion Badou Jack is a close friends and stablemate of Gervonta Davis.

The two boxers are promoted by Mayweather Promotions.

This Saturday night, they will both see action in separate bouts as part of a Showtime televised tripleheader.

Jack will appear in the co-feature, challenging Jean Pascal for the WBA “regular” light heavyweight title.

And Davis will headline the card, when he faces former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa for the vacant WBA lightweight title.

The card takes place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

As Davis came up in the ranks, he fought on Jack’s undercards. Now the shoe is on the other foot, as Davis has become of the hottest names in the sport.

“Gervonta was on my undercard and now I’m on his and I’m very proud of him. He’s already a superstar,” Jack said.

At 36-years-old, Jack wants to prove that he’s still an elite level fighter in his weight class.

“I had a great training camp, which everyone says, but I really do feel great. I’m 36 and I feel like I’m 26 again. I can’t wait for Saturday night to hear ‘and the new’. I guess you have to wait until Saturday night for me to prove that I still have it. I was flat against Marcus Browne, regardless of the cut, but I feel much better this time than I did heading into that fight,” Jack said.
“All of the close decisions I’ve had in the past, everyone who watched those fights knows that those were wins. Saturday night I’m going to win and there will be no doubt. I take care of myself. I don’t do anything outside the ring to jeopardize my career. I have a great nutritionist who gives me all organic foods. You can talk to my strength and conditioning coach as far as how I’m looking, but I feel amazing.”
