Mattice to headline four-fight ShoBox bill on Feb. 14

A busy early year for ShoBox: The New Generation has another show official, as Thomas Mattice will headline a four-fight bill from Philadelphia on Friday, Feb. 14.

Mattice (15-1-1, 11 KO) is a ShoBox veteran, a 29-year-old lightweight from Cleveland who had a pair of controversial fights with Zhora Hamazaryan in 2018, resulting in a stunningly poorly-scored win for Mattice and then a draw in a rematch two months later. He lost to Will Madera in Feb. 2019, but when called upon to face prospect Michael Dutchover last September in Texas, he scored an upset via 8th round TKO to put some spark back into his own career.

He’ll be facing Isaac Cruz Gonzalez (18-1-1, 14 KO), an unheralded and mostly untested 22-year-old from Mexico City. Mattice-Cruz Gonzalez is set for 10 rounds.

Also set for the card, all fights set for eight rounds:

  • 29-year-old junior featherweight Raeese Aleem (15-0, 9 KO) will meet another ShoBox veteran, Adam Lopez (19-3-2, 9 KO).
  • Montana Love (12-0-1, 6 KO), a 25-year-old junior welterweight from Cleveland, will meet Jerrico Walton (16-0, 7 KO), a 29-year-old originally from New Orleans, now based in Houston.
  • Junior middleweight Derrick Colemon Jr (11-0, 8 KO), a 20-year-old from Detroit, will take on 31-year-old Joseph Jackson (15-0, 12 KO) of North Carolina.

The show will be going head-to-head with a DAZN card headlined by Ryan Garcia vs Francisco Fonseca, which means the audience here is going to be pretty limited.
